This approach not only allows for a taste of authentic home cooking but also adds an element of surprise to each visit.
Customers rave about the delicious hot chocolate, regarded as one of the best in Huautla, and the succulent dishes like pollo en salsa verde (chicken in green salsa) and hearty albondigas (meatballs). Each dish exudes a sense of comfort, crafted with love and a nod to traditional Mexican flavors.
As echoed by patrons like Ronny Ewanek and Bridger Viden, the homestyle quality of the food paired with the attentive service creates a welcoming atmosphere that is hard to beat. An affordable price point, starting around 60 pesos for a meal that includes water, ensures that everyone can enjoy the culinary delights this restaurant has to offer. However, it’s wise to arrive early, as daily specials tend to sell out.
For early birds, Restaurant Rosita opens its doors at 8 AM, serving breakfast until they close at 6:30 PM. Whether you dine in or take food to go, each visit promises delicious homemade flavors and a charming ambiance that truly captures the essence of Oaxacan cuisine.

“ Un excelente lugar para comer, a la carta o comida del día. Precio desde 60 pesos incluida el agua en la comida corrida. Bonita vista. Abren a la 08 am y cierran a las 18 hrs. En ocasiones se acaba la comida corrida muy rápido. Los desayunos están en 75 pesos. ”
“ Great homestyle food and service in a great location in Huautla ”
“ This is a cozy place with a wonderful view of the mountains. They serve one of the more delicious hot chocolate in the city in my opinion. I've never seen a menu here so you should know some Spanish, but they essentially make different dishes everyday. Just ask what they have and they'll let you know! Delicious home cooking that's a nice break from tacos and tlayudas. They close early (around 6:30) but you can get food to go. Try the pollo en salsa verde (chicken in green salsa) or albondigas! ”
